Candle Care

We want your Sakonnet Candle Co. candles to emit warmth and joy while filling your home with the most luxurious complex’s notes that create a sense of relaxation, nostalgia and love. To learn how to most effectively care for your Sakonnet Candle Co. candles please follow our tips below.

  1. When lighting your candle for the first time it is essential to allow the wax to melt fully across the candle and to the sides of the glass vessel. This will prevent your candle from only burning in the middle of the candle and will allow for an even burn for your candles life. Generally this will take anywhere from 2-4 hours.

  2. Always trim your wick to an 1/8 of an inch before each burn which will allow for an even clean burn each time and will limit any sooting or unsafe flame height. Wick trimmers are best for trimming properly.

  3. Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time to avoid sooting and to preserve the fragrance.
  4. Use a snuffer to extinguish a candle, this will prevent unwanted smoke or hot wax from splattering. Do not blow out.
  5. Extinguish a candle if it smokes, flickers or the flame becomes too high. These are signs that indicated the candle is not burning properly and the flame isn’t controlled. Allow to cool and trim the wick back then check for any moving air or drafts before relighting.
  6. Always store your candles in a cool, dark, and dry place. Avoid storing candles in direct contact of sunlight or harsh indoor lighting.
  7. Do not burn your candle all the way down. Leave about a 1/2 inch of non melted wax at the bottom.
  8. Always burn within sight and never leave a burning candle unattended.
